I was born in the Bronx, and moved to Queens at age 4. I started building models at 5 years old. I continued until a teenager, then gave it up for school, music, and girls. Mostly school. I spent the 70’s in college (bachelor’s degree (1975) from City College of New York (CCNY), master’s and doctorate degrees (1981) from University of California, Berkeley, all in mechanical engineering. I then spent 30 years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in System Engineering learning how to make better models. And space stuff.
I returned to building models in 1985, once I had a garage to work in. I have been building mostly airplane models since then. 1/48 and 1/32 planes, 1/72 armor as well as space and sy-fi. I’m a member of the Pasadena Modelers Society and Los Angeles Miniaturists Society, which meet monthly.
I’ve entered many of my models in local, regional, and National modeling contests and have won many awards. These are some examples of my models.
When I’m building models I listen to Classic rock, Prog, Jazz, Blues, Funk.
When I’m not building models or being with my wife and family, I’m a bass player in a jazz band. And learning to play guitar.
